Dr. Paul Plinske

Dr. Paul Plinske is in his eighth year as the Director of Athletics at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Paul is responsible for the overall leadership of the nationally ranked, 20-sport NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics program. Plinske oversees 45 staff and coaches, 700 student-athletes and manages an annual operating budget of approximately $3.0 million.

Plinske also directs the athletic department’s capital campaign initiatives and assists in the planning and development of facility construction and improvement projects. As a fund raiser, Plinske has secured over $6 million in private donations and corporate sponsorship support. He oversaw the $8.04 million outdoor sport complex renovation.

During Plinske’s seven-year tenure, Whitewater has finished sixth in the NACDA Directors’ Cup Standings two times (2008 and 2011). Whitewater athletics have attained six NCAA Division III national titles. There have been ten individual national champions, ten National Coaches of the Year, six National Players of the Year and over 181 All-Americans. UW-Whitewater has won the WIAC All-Sports Award as a combined program and in men’s sport twice in the last four years. In addition to athletic success, Whitewater student-athletes have attained a 3.03 GPA (highest in school history) with a graduation rate of 69%. Since 2004, he has successfully secured over $285,000 in grant funding to create opportunities for females in sport administration.
