Ms. Debora Lazorik, who has 32 years of experience in higher education, joined the Advancement team at Marietta College in 2007 as the Special Assistant to the Vice President of Advancement. She provides leadership to the athletics department Pioneer Club and assists the Vice President on special assignments. Prior to joining Advancement, Ms. Lazorik spent 30 years as a coach, teacher and athletics administrator.
She has served on several NCAA committees including serving as chair of the national women’s rowing committee and had a leadership role in the Ohio Athletic Conference bringing women’s athletics in as members in 1985. She was Marietta College’s Athletics Director from 1989-2007. In the fall of 2006, Ms. Lazorik took a sabbatical and worked with the NCAA on a project; Integration: Education & Athletics, a Model for Success.
The results of her sabbatical were presented at the NCAA national convention in 2007 and at the 2008 convention, NCAA Division III – A Practical Guide to Integration was distributed. From 2004-2006, she served on the NACDA Division III Executive Committee.
Ms. Lazorik was instrumental in the planning, construction and fund raising of two major facility projects; the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center and the Fields Project for football, soccer and softball.
