Emerging Administrators Academy Returns to Atlanta with Leading Intercollegiate Athletics Executives

COLLEGIATECONSULTING_LOGOATLANTA – The Emerging Administrators Academy is set to hold its 2nd Annual Intercollegiate Athletics professional development conference in Atlanta, July 13-15, 2014, with an impressive list of top collegiate sports executives. The Marriott Buckhead Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta, GA will host the Academy for a second year.
The Emerging Administrators Academy (Emerging AD) is designed to enhance, develop and guide those interested in a career in college athletics. Emerging AD will allow participants the opportunity to learn the varying disciplines in intercollegiate athletics from development to compliance. It will also cover important topics like diversity, and explore opportunities across all three NCAA divisions. Finally, there will be on-site interviewing and a session on resume and cover letter review. Each instructor will share their experiences; insights and valuable techniques to help future administrators achieve their career goals.

Created and founded by Paine College Director of Athletics, Tim Duncan, Emerging AD has already made an impression on the industry. Returning instructor, Steve Stroud, Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs at Troy University shared his experience, “I don’t know of any other opportunity in college athletics to receive one-on-one attention and feedback from industry veterans in regards to your personal job search.”

Also returning as instructors include Dr. Derrick Gragg, Vice-President and Athletics Director at Tulsa University; Bill Lansden, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations, University of Alabama-Birmingham; Jody Sykes, Senior Associate Athletic Director & Chief Compliance Officer, University of Oregon; Dr. Percy Caldwell, former Director of Athletics, Grambling State University and Dena Freeman-Patton, Associate Athletics Director-Academics at California State University-Bakersfield.

New instructors include Georgia Regents University Athletics Director, Clint Bryant; Stillman College’s Director of Athletics, Paul Bryant; Nicole Harvey, Assistant Commissioner for Compliance, Western Athletic Conference (WAC); China Jude, Assistant Vice-President of Athletics at Queens College and Lauren Katovsky, Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing at Kennesaw State University. Also presenting are Dr. Renae Myles, Associate Athletics Director of Business Administration, Alabama A&M; Natalie Winkelfoos, Delta Lodge Athletics Director at Oberlin College Merlene Aitken, Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance, Clayton State University, and Stevie Baker-Watson, Theodore Katula Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports at DePauw University.
