ATLANTA, Ga. – Collegiate Consulting recently completed a benchmarking analysis and comparison for the Grand Canyon University athletics department as a component of the institution’s initiative to explore Division I opportunities.
The four-month study consisted of a comprehensive assessment of the department, including an analysis of the current athletic landscape within NCAA Division I and the Western Athletic Conference. Collegiate Consulting provided a comparison of institutions, athletic programs and marketplace with specific analysis of staffing, salaries, budgets, scholarships and revenue sources, as well as an on-going report of the evolving Division I and conference landscape.

“We have done a significant number of Division II to Division I studies and assessments for institutions considering a divisional transition. Grand Canyon University is as well-positioned as any institution we have seen to make a successful conversion to Division I,” stated Russell Wright, Managing Director of Collegiate Consulting.

The results and findings from Collegiate Consulting’s report were presented to GCU’s institutional leadership for their review and evaluation, and have aided the institutions with regard to its planning and discussions with potential conferences.

“The work done by Collegiate Consulting has been critical to provide actual and real-time benchmarking data, and has assisted us with monitoring the current environment and where opportunities exist,” said GCU Director of Athletics Keith Baker. “We have used the benchmarking report to provide support for our budgeting and strategic planning process.”
